I always get so excited when I get to try a new breakfast place in the area. I've been to Toast a couple of times. The wait is always reasonable (we never wait for more than 15 or 20 minutes, even during busy weekend brunch times), and the ambiance is warm and inviting, but the food is lackluster. During my first visit here I had an omelet. It was somewhat forgettable, so much so that I don't remember which I had. The coffee is good and strong, and you never have to worry about an empty cup. They even ask if you want a cup to take on-the-go as you get your bill. After this first time of being less than impressed, I thought I'd give the restaurant another try before writing a review. My second visit was not better. I ordered the Steak and Eggs. The eggs were perfectly cooked (over easy), but the steak was bland and limp. Atop the steak was a tomato AND raisin chutney. I wish the menu had stated that there would be raisins in the chutney; I realize that chutneys typically have a sweet component (dried fruits, peels), but I wasn't happy to see it all over my steak. The toast that accompanied the meal had no butter; the waitress didn't appear until she presented us with the bill, so I had to flag down the hostess when she brought another party back to be seated. By then, my toast was cold, and I was picking at my raisins in frustration. The one item I did love was the Hashbrown Casserole. This really isn't your normal hashbrown or breakfast potato side. It's a creamy, cheesy dollop that they plate directly from a tiny teacup. It's perfectly seasoned and, sadly, is the only thing that saves this dish from being just "bleh." I know that Toast has some amazing reviews. I may try them once more to see if I see the same things. Perhaps having been to so many better local places that serve a mind-blowing breakfast, I just cannot love this place. But, for now, this place is a blip in my memory of food, and sadly, not worth saving memory space.

I've been here twice and really haven't been impressed either time. The food is really nothing special - very ordinary. I'm not sure why it's so hyped up. Same with the service - it's fine, I didn't have any problems, but it's nothing exemplary. I've had a breakfast sandwich and a South of the Border omelette. My breakfast sandwich had some kind of sprouts on it that were not mentioned in the menu that gave it kind of a funky taste, combined with the vinaigrette - just gave the whole sandwich a very acidic, vinegary taste - just not what I imagine a breakfast sandwich to be like. The omelette was alright, the salsa on it seemed like canned salsa which was a big turnoff. Maybe it wasn't, but it sure seemed like it was. The hash brown casserole was pretty bland, i feel like chains such as Craker Barrel have a better hash brown casserole/potato side. This place gets pretty busy on Saturday morning when the farmers market is going on, but that should certainly not be a reason why the quality should suffer. There are better options around and even if you live in southern Indiana, I feel like it's worth venturing into Louisville for a more satisfying breakfast.

2nd time here for breakfast and this place is great! My wife loved the mango mimosa and the bacon and egg sandwich might be in the top 3 of all time. I got it with egg whites and it's delicious! Highly recommend Toast on Market!

Very nice clean place we had breakfast and it was delicious. I will be going back. We were on our honeymoon and found this place on yelp. It Is located in a nice area downtown. We had the King and the Monte Cristo french toast very good.

I really enjoyed our breakfast here, I had the pineapple stuffed french toast, and it was perfect! The coffee was also just the way I like it! What I was most please with was that even though they were very busy the staff was pleasant and attentive. Made a great start to our day. Thank you!

I like this place. The breakfast manhattan is different and surprisingly tasty. The hashbrown casserole isn't what most would expect. It has soft potatoes in it. It reminds me of a potato salad. I think it is very good. It has a nice atmosphere as well. I wouldn't suggest going on a busy day - such as Mother's Day - the wait can be really long. The one complaint I have is the last time we went to Toast, the waitress gave us the check as she was giving us our food. It made us feel like we needed to rush although it was a Tuesday morning and the place was nearly empty.

Although I frequent this place I'm just giving it an okay review for several reasons. The mood here is drab. None of the staff are overly friendly. And the the prices are too high. They charge you extra for every little thing (build your own omelet ingredients especially). The portions are also too big and the refuse to sell you "half sizes." My bill is always too expensive and they are constantly asking me to add farm fresh eggs for an extra charge. No thanks! Every time I ask for "light" ingredients in my omelet in comes out smothered sausage.

The secret of Louisville brunch is that you go to the Toast in New Albany. Fantastic food, similar or same menu as the original Toast, and a much, much shorter wait.

Very very consistent eatery. I have been going to this place since they first opened, it has not changed one bit, and that's a good thing. Not all dishes are a knock out, but everything is very good. A few things I have a hard time not ordering - potato casserole, French toast, spicy Bloody Mary. The Bloody Mary specifically will cure you of any mild ailments. If you're looking for a quality (non-greasy) breakfast at an affordable price, this is it. Hard to be disappointed.

Toast On Market is an excellent choice for brunch. The New Albany location is charming but not as much so as the NuLu location in Louisville. Regardless, my experiences at the New Albany location have been just as good as in NuLu. The lemon soufflé pancakes are something that shouldn't be missed for someone that enjoys a sweeter breakfast. The Kentucky Mimosa is a good pair with them for someone who enjoys bourbon. I have had the grilled cheese as well, but my heart belongs to the pancakes.

Had the club sandwich and Bloody Mary. Both were good as usual. Could use more seating as we had a 30 min wait for a table of four. Prices are a little high for what you get, but not so much we wouldn't go back.

Great find! Traveling and stayed at the Harrahs casino nearby, we hoped for a nice local breakfast. They have a terrific menu with unusually creative items. We had lemon soufflé pancakes, and peanut butter banana waffles. Yes, decadent! They were excellent, and the presentation was beautiful. The bacon was crisp as requested and the service was extraordinary. If you are in or near Louisville KY or New Albany Indiana, try it.

Quaint location with Warhol-esque wall decor in old downtown area. Simple menu, leaving room for daily specials. Mine was a shrimp & andoulle sausage omelet with a spiced hollandaise sauce; side of hash brown casserole. The omelet didn't stay together well due to the generous amount of shrimp. Is that bad? The andoulle sausage was under seasoned & lacked flavor as did the hollandaise sauce. The hash brown casserole was more like cheesey potato casserole ice cream scooped onto the plate. It had good taste, yet needed the crunch I expect from hash browns. My fellow diners both had the lemon pancakes with blueberry sauce which they thoroughly enjoyed leaving only a bite for me to agree that they are quite good. Service was excellent, noise was low to average, & no wait to get seated ... before 10:00 on Sunday. Not so true as we left just after 11:00. All told, we'd definitely visit again if we were in the area.

Toast on Market is okay but never my first choice for breakfast or brunch. It is the trendy hipster breakfast joint and they seem to mark their prices up accordingly. The decor is warm but hip with a bar that stretches across one side of the restaurant. The wait is shorter than the Louisville Toast on Market location but longer than most other Southern Indiana brunch spots. Also, the staff seems friendlier at this location than at the Louisville one. However, I'm just not a huge fan of the food. It isn't bad, but the prices are really high for super small low quality portions. The last time we were in I ordered the special; strawberry and cream cheese stuffed french toast. I got two small pieces of french toast that had strawberry syrup and a tiny bit of cream cheese. There was absolutely no actual fresh strawberry on the plate or the french toast. This came with a scoop of hash-brown casserole. The cost of my meal, my boyfriend's meal, one soft drink, and the tip was around $30 and it just wasn't worth it. Personally I think there are locally owned breakfast places around that serve better food at a better price than Toast on Market. However, if a hip atmosphere is critical to your enjoyment of toast and eggs then maybe check this place out.

This is a great place to eat. They have plenty of options for breakfast and lunch. They are creative with many of the menu options. I have two picky eaters as sons and they can find several items on the menu.

I've been looking forward to try this place for a while. It lived up to my expectations. The flavors were really great. I would definitely get the ratatouille that my sister got if I went back. The side of pasta salad was good too.

Toast is our go-to place for weekend breakfast (when we don't go to Cricket's). Put your name on the list and walk around the New Albany Farmer's Market until your table is ready. Or take a seat at the bar and talk to the barista and other guests who have opted not to wait for a table like you. All of the breakfast and lunch dishes are great, but I especially recommend the egg sandwich, which isn't like your "normal" breakfast sandwich. Be sure to choose the potatoes as your side dish (even tho Bill always gets the healthier fruit). You won't be disappointed in anything!

This was a nice little breakfast joint. The food was good, service was good, but nothing spectacular. I wasn't blown away by the food, but if you want something different than just going to Denny's or IHOP for breakfast this is the place.

When traveling I like to find local spots to eat, especially breakfast. This is great place to pop in. Love the atmosphere and most of all the food. Ordered the " King", which was awesome. I'm a huge peanut butter fan. Will definitely stop in on my next trip here. They have some very interesting menu choices that I am excited to try next time. Service was great too!

We stopped here during our "babymoon" before our second baby was born. Amazing! Adorable little place. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was very friendly. I got their special and their lemon soufflé pancake. Holy cow. You MUST try the pancake!!!! Everything we got was delicious. We will definitely go back if we ever get a chance!

I'm a big fan and whenever I visit the NA area, I always like to go to Toast. I'm a big breakfast fan and I've tried many of their dishes. The pancakes are my favorite and I usually don't order pancakes. However, they're so light and fluffy...just delicious! My wife is a big fan of their yogurt with the fruit and granola. Prices are very fair and staff does a nice job there.

We had heard about Toast on Market for years. We decided to go and try it out. We arrived around 10 am on a beautiful fall Saturday. The line was out the door - which is a good sign. We had to wait for about thirty minutes which was not an issue. We went across the street to the local Farmer Market to kill the time. We found a local merchant that made his own balsamic vinegar and olive oils from oil that is shipped from CA. It was great for a Midwest infused oil. The decor was nice and it had a full bar for a breakfast/lunch place is great. Our server was attentive and got us coffee very quickly. We enjoyed our coffee and then ordered. I had the breakfast special with fresh pork sausage and a little breakfast gravy. It was delicious. The hash brown casserole was excellent. My wife had the Mediterranean omelette. The eggs were perfect, but was not enough cheese and a little too many black olives for her. Our only complaint was the toast was not hot and not buttered. The sourdough was excellent though. We were impressed by the lunch menu as we want to go try the roasted tomato soup with one of their three signature grilled cheese sandwiches. We will be back soon!

Sunday after the churches let out is not the time to go to Toast. Any other time, however, is the perfect time to go to Toast. My lady and I usually end up getting there around brunch time which means breakfast for her and lunch for me, so I've tried several of both meals' dishes by now and none have disappointed so far. For me, I love their club sandwiches, particularly the California club with the creamy avocado. If you get lunch, I highly recommend the potato salad as a side. I don't know what they put in there (marinated crack, maybe?) but it is unbelievable. All of the breakfast items are excellent as well and you can't really go wrong with any of the choices. I'm knocking it a star due to long wait times and the lack of sound baffling. It gets pretty loud in there. Luckily, they give you several of the area's independent papers to read while you anticipate your upcoming delicious meal.

Toast on Market was very good. We stopped in for breakfast. The waitstaff was skillful and friendly, typifying Hoosier hospitality. The coffee had body and flavor. I ordered the Cliffie's Breakfast with bacon, which took the form of two eggs, toast, bacon, hashbrown casserole and two pancakes. I took up their offer of pecans in the pancakes, which turned out to have some body and flavor to them The pecans were a good addition. D ordered the yogurt with granola and fruit. It was delicious. Toast is in a nice old building with hardwood floors and brick walls, a pleasant change from modern.

We typically go for the bacon and egg sandwich, French toast or blueberry pancakes. Their hashbrown casserole is kick butt and I'm pretty sure I could overdose on it. They make some killer mimosas too. Perfect after a long night at work!

This isn't your parent's New Albany, not with Toast, Wick's and all the other great places. Jeffersonville might be the 'Sunny Side of Louisville,' but New Albany reminds me of 'Little Louisville.' One of Louisville's best is now New Albany's best breakfast (with Honey Cream a close second). Toast has opened a restaurant in New Albany, and I couldn't resist a chance to try a slight variation of my favorite breakfast in Louisville. It's a lot smaller than the original location, but the portions are the same. If the tables are full, there is most always immediate seating at the bar. There's nothing quite like sitting at a bar for breakfast. Pancakes are my favorite thing on the menu, and they sure know how to do them in a desert style. Pictured is their blueberry / custard pancakes. Remember, if you are going to have the calories, it's best to have them for breakfast, right? Their omelets are amazing, but only seconded by the decor and energy you feel when you walk in this place.

I was intending to go to toast on market early Friday before thunder 2011, but got downtown a bit early (opens at 7) . After driving in from Detroit. I was a bit sleepy and decided to go for a walk to refresh myself in downtown New albany in the wee morning hours (6:30 or so). While I was walking about the downtown one could almost taste bacon in the air....the area about 1 block south of Toast....smelled very pungent....a very nice morning smell, birds chirping....bacon frying... Where was it coming from? Toast wasn't quite open....could it be the little restaurant east of toast? Little Chef..?. I wandered about.. and my curiosity got the better of me...and I stubbled into chef looking for a carry out menu.. They didn't have one...but I was allowed to look at the counter menu (it's just stools in there). I was amazed that the place was SO smokey....I left after under 1 minute , no smell of bacon in that place...just cigarette smoke....which stuck to my clothing like I'd just spent 2 hours in a Bingo hall. I was still early for toast so I walked around the block trying to air out my clothes.. At 7 AM on the dot...I was allowed into Toast on Market.. I've been to toast before in L'ville, a few times for breakfast and once for lunch and have always had a pleasant experience. This toast is no different, clean , nicely decorated and lighted... , perhaps populated by a less dressed up crowd and at that hour a bit less populated the the one in the Big city.... but other wise the food is as good as Toast in L'ville.. I ordered a King, a side of bacon and coffee. All three were yummy.. Service was quite good and even though a KIng takes a few minutes to prepare I was On my way in about 37 minutes. It's a bit pricey compared to a few other places in town...but dependable for a decent breakfast and coffee..

We visited the New Albany recently and ate here based on a recommendation. We were all very satisfied with our food! I ordered the Toast & Eggs with Hash Brown Casserole. It sounds simple, but it is very delicious. I also sampled the Bread Pudding Pancakes, as well as the Blueberry Pancakes from other people's plates. They were both excellent!

Bright cheerful oak door greets passers by inviting them, the canary yellow entry way gives way to soft burgundy colors wrapping around the bar. Tables dot the room surrounded by chairs acting a little islands for friends to gather and talk. The place is packed a lot but it was a nice lazy afternoon near closing when I strolled in. The omelets are nice and airy with a velvety texture to them, the wonderful chorizo sausage heavy and flavorful in contrast. And they have the Monty Christo French toast, they were phenomenal. Brioche filled with ham, swiss and a bit of the orange marmalade to sweeten the deal. If they can turn out service like this when they are closing up and want to go home, it says a lot about them and their character. As long as they keep it up I will keep coming back.

Toast is the best place for breakfast in New Albany. Their lemon soufflé pancakes are to die for! So moist and delicious. The egg sandwich with bacon and gorgonzola is also pretty amazing. My boyfriend enjoys the club too. I think I will try the bacon pancakes or an omelet next time..if I can fight the urge to order the lemon soufflé :) It is a little loud inside, but definitely worth the few min you have to wait. Def recommend to anyone looking for a different yet delicious breakfast or lunch!

So yummy! Crowded on weekends, but worth the wait. Lots of vegetarian options, including four different grilled cheese sandwiches. (Heaven!) The cheesy hashbrown casserole is great comfort food, and the banana-nut oatmeal is delicious and healthy...ish.

Really good food overshadowed by high prices and obscene wait times. I've been here a few times and love the food, bit can't wait over an hour just to get in the door. The restaurant is too small for the weekend business they do on the weekends and last time they wouldn't even push 2 tables together for our group.

I've been to this location three times now and I feel exactly the same way as I do about it's Louisville counterpart. Quality is exactly the same and the food is equally delicious. The King is still my favorite but I've also enjoyed their egg sandwich and one of their lunches. Lunch, in general, doesn't do it for me. Go for breakfast and get whatever sounds the most unusual or amazing. I'm going to cut to the chase and paste my previous review. Just before leaving town for the weekend I stopped at Toast to get breakfast. While reading the menu one item stopped me dead in my tracks, The King. My friends, what I embarked on was French toast stuffed with peanut butter, bananas and mascarpone cheese. Sweet Jesus, daddy and the spook where do I sign?! This dish came with a side of their hash brown casserole but all I kept thinking of was the King. My wife and friend ordered something. It doesn't matter because it couldn't possibly be as rad or decedent as The King. The food arrives and my coffee cup is refilled. My companions are clearly eye fucking my breakfast. It tasted like... words almost fail me... this is everything Lynn's Paradise Café should be. The peanut butter was hot and smooth. The French toast more savory than sweet. Banana's tasted ripe and the powdered sugar was like a reminder you'll be needing a nap when this is over. The hash brown casserole is full of cheese and is infused with some kind of bread crumbs. A mixture of crunchy and chewy. The whole thing is simply awesome. static.px.yelp .... Toast has got to be the best breakfast spot in town. They're open from 7am-3pm and serve breakfast and lunch all day. I got there about 11am on a Saturday and had to wait about 30 minutes. The food is well worth the wait. The staff is friendly and upbeat and honestly the whole experience far surpassed what I expected. Lynn's should be worried and hope they don't start serving dinner.

I love pancakes and was disappointed with what Toast flipped onto my plate. They were hard, not soft and fluffy as described in the menu. Hashbrown casserole was mushy, but had a good taste. I am not a lemon, bread pudding or tiramisu fan so I opted for the standard buttermilk pancakes. Next time, we will stick to having breakfast at Wild Egg.

I'm so glad that Toast is here. I usually get an omelet, and I have never had a bad one there. I love that you can build your own and select your own ingredients. I've never been fond of their hash brown casserole - missing the crispy texture I love for potatoes. I recently tried the lemon souffle pancakes and enjoyed them, but didn't love them. Staff is great and friendly, and food is dependable. I recommend it.
